Rangoli Inspired Art Work

On Friday 25th January, we were very lucky to be able to spend some time with Mrs Sunita Patel. She explained to us about rangoli patterns. Using a template and coloured chalks, we had to work very carefully in order to create symmetrical art work. We talked to our team members and decided which colours to use. Each person had to make sure that he or she used the same colour, in the same position. Kestrel Class was delighted with the results! Thank you very much to Mrs Patel for such an enjoyable session.

Toast Toppings

Last Friday, we talked about breakfast being an important meal. We tried a variety of toast toppings, including lemon cheese, marmite, Mrs Streeter's delicious home-made jam and chocolate spread. As part of our Maths work, we then voted which topping we enjoyed most, before making our own pictograms and bar charts.

The tasting was going well. Look at all the notes we were making!

Colour Mixing

In Art, we have discussed how to use primary colours (yellow, red and blue) to create secondary colours (orange, purple and green). Then we used an image of a fruit bowl in order to practise our new colour mixing skills. The end products are on display in the KS1 corridor, so please take a look, next time you are in school.

Circuits in Science!

In Science this term we have been learning  all about ELECTRICITY.

We have talked about different forms of electricity and where it comes from. We now know how it travels to our homes and other buildings.

Experimenting with batteries, wires, bulbs and buzzers to make our own circuits has been great fun!

Take a look at some of our photos!

 Concentration!

Will it work?

Hooray! Aren't we clever?

Music Lessons

We have been experimenting how to make different sounds with a variety of musical instruments. How many of the instruments can you recognise?

January 2013

Welcome to our first blog of 2013.

Mrs Leeks and I have thoroughly enjoyed our first two weeks back and thought you might like to catch up with some of our latest photos.

Our Christmas play was very well received. Thanks for all your help with the costumes.

Even Zippy had his own party hat!

No danger of any peeping!

We had lots of fun making the puppets in DT. A huge thank you to all the people who came in and helped out. It makes all the difference and also meant that I didn't have to thread twenty needles by myself- phew!

Cutting out our puppets

Just to give you advance notice... We are celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March, when both the staff and children have the opportunity to come to school as a character from a book.

Look out for photos from our Indian Experience session this coming Friday.
